The Innovative In Vitro Laboratory for Forest and Ornamental Plants has been established at the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University). The laboratory was opened by Aziz Abdukhakimov, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Environmental Issues – Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change.
The laboratory complex brings together five areas: in vitro, medicinal plants, soil science, plant protection, as well as the conservation and study of forest plant seeds.
One of the key areas will be the microclonal propagation of plants using in vitro technology, which makes it possible to produce large quantities of genetically stable, virus-free planting material within a short period of time. Following cultivation in the laboratory, the plants undergo acclimatization and are prepared for planting in open ground.
The laboratories will also conduct research on the breeding of valuable woody and nut-bearing crops, seed production, soil condition assessment, and the development of recommendations for their efficient use and the prevention of soil degradation.
The establishment of the complex will bring together scientific research, modern biotechnology, and practical production, contributing to biodiversity conservation and the development of sustainable forestry and agriculture.
