In May 2013, the contributors to this volume were invited to attend a meeting in rural Somerset, UK, to present early drafts of their chapters and discuss the orga nization of this book. This meeting was instrumental in sustaining enthusiasm for what became a long process leading to eventual publication. Two organizations— the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), in UK, and the Feinstein International Center of Tufts University, in USA—provided the funding that made our meeting possible.
