ADB Revises Economic Growth Forecast for Uzbekistan

Today, representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Ms. Kanokpan Lao-Araya (Country Director) and Senior Economist Begzod Jalilov, conducted yet another insightful presentation on the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) at our university.

During the presentation, the ADB team provided information on economic forecasts and trends specific to Uzbekistan as outlined in the ADO report. According to the report, after stronger-than-expected economic growth in the first half of 2024, driven by increased investments and robust industrial growth, the ADB has raised its growth forecast for Uzbekistan for 2024 and 2025.

It was pleasant to learn that Uzbekistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is forecasted to grow by 6%% in 2024, which is higher than the 5.5%% forecast made in April 2024. Due to achievements in manufacturing and construction, industrial growth is expected to rise to 6.2%% in 2025.

At the end of the presentation, a Q&A session was held with participants, where additional information on the above-mentioned areas was provided.
